With Existing Keys

  1.   Transfer your private key to your device
    • On your Mac: AirDrop your .asc or .gpg key file directly to your iPhone/iPad
    • On Windows: Email the key to yourself, then open the attachment in iPGMail                                                                                                                                                                                            
  2.   Import the key 
    • Tap the key file to open it in iPGMail
    • Enter your passphrase when prompted 
    • Your public key is automatically extracted from your private key                                                                                                                                                                                                      
  3.   You’re ready! Open any encrypted message or file to decrypt it.

Create New Keypair

  1. Create a new keypair
    • Open iPGMail → tap Keys → tap “Action Button” (upper right) -> tap “Add Key” – tap “Generate New Keypair” 
    • Enter your name and email address               
    • Choose a keytype – [ECC/CV25519 is recommended]
    • Choose a strong passphrase you’ll remember                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
  2.   Share your public key
    • tap your new key → tap “Action Button (upper right) -> tap “Share”
    • Send it to contacts who want to message you securely                                                                                                                                                                                                                  
  3.  Get your contacts’ public keys
    • Tap Action Button (upper right) → tap “Add Key” -> tap “Search Keyservers”
    • Search by email address to find and import their keys 

Decrypt A Message

  1. Open the encrypted file with .asc or .pgp extension
  2. Select the option to open the file with iPGMail
  3. iPGMail will prompt you for your secret key password and decrypt the message (if you have the right secret key).
